Grand Mesa National Forest

Grand Mesa National Forest is a large and rugged area of public land located to the east of Grand Junction in the US state of Colorado. The forest is named after the Grand Mesa (11,000 ft/3,350 m), which is one of the world’s largest mesas.

Flat Tops Wilderness Area

Located in western Colorado, the Flat Tops Wilderness Area spans 235,214 acres (95,187 ha) of rugged and remote terrain, making it the second-largest wilderness area in the state, after the Weminuche Wilderness Area.

Elkhead Mountains

Despite its relatively low elevation in comparison to many of Colorado’s more well-known ranges, the Elkhead Mountains are a pristine, rugged, and remote range that is well worth a visit.
