Despite its small size, Lebanon is spectacularly mountainous. In fact, it is the 9th most mountainous country in the world, with 3,329 named summits inside a mere 10,452 sq km.

Israel

There are 1,007 named summits within Israel’s modern-day borders, although some are in annexed regions, including the country’s highest, Mount Duvdevan (2,236 m/7,336 ft).

Libya

The North African nation of Libya has 2,013 named summits. Bikku Bitti (2,266 m/7,434 ft) is the highest. The most prominent is Gebel el Uwaynat (1,934 m/6,345 ft), boasting over 1,200 meters (4,200 feet) of prominence.

Morocco

Morocco is one of the most mountainous nations in Africa, with over 23,581 named summits. The country’s highest and most prominent, Toubkal (4,167 m/13,671 ft), is the entire Arab world.
